The newly discovered coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 causes the infectious disease Covid-19. It first appeared in December 2019 in the Chinese city of Wu-chan, but now it is spreading around the world. <\/p>\n\n

Coronavirus – symptoms and course of the disease<\/span><\/span> <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

The symptoms may manifest differently in everyone. However, the most common are fever, dry cough, difficulty breathing and fatigue. Other and uncommon symptoms may include colds, sore throat, headache, muscle or joint pain, loss of taste or smell, diarrhea, conjunctivitis, nausea, vomiting, chills, dizziness, skin rash or discolouration of the fingers. <\/p>\n\n

Symptoms of a severe course of the disease include shortness of breath, loss of appetite, confusion, persistent chest pain or pressure, and fever above 38 \u00b0 C. <\/p>\n\n

We can infect the people around us before the first symptoms appear. These usually do not show up until after the fourth day of infection. <\/p>\n\n

The course of the disease also depends on our immune system. It can be very mild, asymptomatic, but also severe and in some cases even cause the death of an infected person. <\/p>\n\n

Who is at risk of infection?<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n

Everyone. Covid-19 spreads mainly in enclosed spaces crowded with people. In some, for example in children, the symptoms tend to be milder, in others there is a risk of a serious course of the disease. <\/p>\n\n

People aged 60 and over and people with concomitant diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease or a weakened immune system are more likely to have a more severe course of the disease. <\/p>\n\n

The disease is transmitted mainly by droplets during sneezing, coughing, speech or direct contact. This means that we should keep a distance of at least a meter from each other to reduce the risk of infection. <\/p>\n\n
